Strada Nuova, or Strada Nuova dei Palazzi, was a project with its intention to link two different parts of the city, serving as an axis road to join the suburbs and the city. The road is laid down in a straight line, and divided into lots that were sold at three different public auctions. This road was built to improve the area as it was previously used for brothel activities.
The State architect of this project was Bernadino Cantone. He was the designer of the structure of the Strada Nuova, and also oversaw the building of each palazzo. He had basically micromanaged and focused on every aspect of the Strada Nuova, which as a result this place had changed tremendously in life and status.

One of the things that really drew me towards this particular “building” was how its not actually a building, but something more focused on the city itself. The Strada Nuova was this idea to rebuild and bring more respect to a street that was used for more less-respected activities. After its construction, this street became much more respected and more aristocratic.
Strada Nuova
Within the Strada Nuova is the Rolli Palaces, which can actually be visited today. The Rolli Palaces are a group of approximately 130 buildings used by the Republic to serve for visiting guests. Each residence is divided by different categories: size, beauty, and importance. They are also divided by the types of people each residence serves.
